Fermanville, Les Marettes.
AOK 7, KVA J1, Festung Cherbourg, KV.Gr. Cherbourg, KVU.Gr. Cherbourg See, M.K.B. Hamburg 24cm, Stp. 234.

This very interesting and spread out battery lies along a small road D612 between the D901 towards Fermanville along the D116. When you are close to Fermanville you see signs for the neighbourhood called "Les Marettes". Here the bunkers are hidden on private property between the bushes on both sides of the road .

The gun emplacements are very hard to find and are located on private properties, so ask for permission to enter. One emplacement is almost destroyed because it is blown to pieces. The second is heavily overgrown and damaged. The third is nice with some damage on the top, but with two ammunition storage bunkers as annex standing beside. The fourth emplacement shows as best the form and size of the gun and its emplacement. This bunker is used in the past as a house to live in or as holiday home.

In one of the meadows a Flak emplacement is standing on top of a Fa-building. The building and the Flak are internally connected with a staircase and the building is equipped with a cellar. Next to the Flak emplacement on the top is a sort of Tobruk built in. You can find German signs at the emplacement . In front of the building an Ammo storage is placed.

Next to the road we found some underground buildings. One you can enter and you will find three big rooms with no indication for what purpose they where there. There is an extra emergency exit. An other underground building can be recognised by its "blue" door and typical diagonal down going building. Unfortunately it was closed.
Alongside this location you find a stair going down to a Vf-building that was probably a "mess or canteen" hall. Some other buildings behind it are gone but the remains are still there. Near the stairs, partly under the road, you find a small storage tunnel, we think.

Types:
4x Gun emplacement for 24cm S.K.L/40. (with two ammo storage annex's)
1x Flak emplacement, on top of Vf-building.
2x Underground rooms.
1x Utility building, maybe a "mess or canteen".
4x Fa ammunition.
1x Fa storage, under the road.
